The Eclectic Bookshelf is a blog of book recommendations. I won’t include books just so I can tell you not to bother.
Because it is better to read long books than long blogposts, I aim to keep recommendations to under 150 words.
My bookshelf includes lots of classics, some crime fiction/mystery, plenty of picture books, lots of junior and young adult fiction, some history, lots of Christian non-fiction, select modern literature, a bunch of historical romances that I try to hide with the more pretentious books, some fantasy and scifi and a smattering of poetry, biography and letters. My recommendations are going to be a mix of all those but I’ll try to use tags so that it’s easier to find ones that will fit in well with your bookshelf.
Feel free to leave comments – how you found books I’ve recommended; books that you recommend to me. I won’t edit your posts but will delete posts that contain personal attacks, obscenities or are deliberately offensive.
Jenny, this site is brilliant! What a great idea and it is so wonderfully presented. I so dislike wasting time on books where you get to the end and feel that nothing was gained or accomplished by reading them, how delightful to have a blog of recommendations – good job!
What a delightful idea! So good of you to share what’s good and why ……
Jenny, I love reading your reviews and recommendations! I still have a list of recommendations with little summaries you gave to me years ago and I am excited that I can now add all these ones to it!
Thanks, Abi – that is lovely to hear!
